A person who laced sweets with sleeping medication and provided them to youngsters at a youth camp in the area has admitted sexual crimes against two young males who were nine and 10.
Jon Ruben was detained after eight children and an older person fell ill at the facility in the summer month.
The elderly man, from the Nottinghamshire area, pleaded guilty to a multiple criminal counts when he appeared at the judicial center on Friday.
Yet, he disputed a single sexual charge he was accused of, which was involving a nine-year-old child.
The defendant was kept in jail prior to a additional proceeding on November 28th.
'Sweet game'
The prosecutor, handling the case, detailed Ruben's offending to the court.
She stated his those affected were disadvantaged youngsters who were participating in a youth camp which he operated.
The defendant engaged in a "candy game" with the minors, the prosecutor said, in which he would enter the children's bedrooms when they were settling down and tell them to consume candy "rapidly".
She told the court the man had played this game with the young males "repeatedly", and children had previously fallen ill the following morning.
She said the man had been able to explain this repeatedly as the youngsters being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his stepchild had suspicions in July 2025.
Mrs Prior KC continued: "Recently" his stepchild had worries about what was going on, for good reason.
"They resolved" to investigate in the man's possessions."
The legal counsel said items including infant oil, ointment and syringes were found, and his stepson notified the law enforcement about his suspicions.
She said the man proceeded to conduct the "treat game" with six children that evening - Saturday 26 July - and they were all ill the subsequent day.
"Authorities" had not responded by that time," she added.
The police watchdog, the police conduct office, previously told that it was investigating law enforcement's management of the events.
The prosecutor explained the youngsters were unable to walk properly due to their sickness, so the family member contacted the police again.
She explained Ruben then conducted the "treat game" in a space of five minors.
